When you attend events such as the Meadowlands Seminar or the award-winning Boardwalk Seminar®, what you’re seeing is the end result of the work of the NJAJ Educational Foundation.

The NJAJ Educational Foundation is responsible for putting on Continuing Legal Education programs and carefully develops topics and seminar faculty.

“The goal of the foundation is to help better educate lawyers so they can better represent their clients,” said NJAJ President-Elect Adam B. Lederman, who by virtue of that position is chair of the NJAJ Educational Foundation.

“We offer some of the largest and best CLE events in the country,” Lederman said. “We are proud of that accomplishment and are looking to build on it.”

The Foundation is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees.

The Foundation officers for the 2023-2024 year are Lederman as chair, NJAJ 1st Vice President Jonathan H. Lomurro, Esq., vice chair, Dara A. Quattrone, Esq., secretary, and Gerald H. Baker, Esq., treasurer.

The other Foundation trustees are NJAJ 2nd Vice President Diane L. Cardoso, Esq., Norberto A. Garcia, Esq., NJAJ President Patricia M. Giordano, Esq., Jacquelyn R. Matchett, Esq. and Rachel A. Placitella, Esq.

The Foundation produces large-scale, in-person events such as the Meadowlands Seminar 2023, which takes place Wednesday – Friday, November 15 – 17, the Winter Seminar 2024, on February 22, 2024 and the Boardwalk Seminar® 2024, set for Wednesday – Friday, April 17-19, 2024.

In addition, the Foundation runs theCLEstore, which offers on-demand CLE programs for attorneys and sponsors nationally syndicated webinars presented by NJAJ members and is looking to produce more. If you have an idea for a webinar, please submit it through the NJAJ website.

“No matter what your style of learning is, whether it’s in person or online, we have something for you,” Lederman said. “Our goal is to offer programs so that no matter how you learn best, we have material that you need and can put to good use. Come learn with us.”

The NJAJ Educational Foundation is designated by the New Jersey Supreme Court as an Approved Service Provider.

The NJAJ Educational Foundation was incorporated in 1990 and is a separate entity from NJAJ. In addition to the NJAJ President-Elect, the NJAJ President, the 1st Vice President and the 3rd Vice President serve on the Foundation Board of Trustees. The remaining five members are appointed by the NJAJ Board of Governors.

While providing CLE seminars is the main focus of the NJAJ Educational Foundation, which began offering courses in 1992, the organization is also involved in student outreach.

The Foundation has a fund earmarked to provide the Herbert E. Greenstone Award to the winners of mock trial competitions at the three New Jersey law schools.
