As we begin a new year and a new legislative session, NJAJ enters 2026 with purpose, urgency, and a renewed commitment to protecting and preserving our clients’ rights and their access to a fair and impartial justice system.

As NJAJ’s President, it is my honor to lead our community of more than 2,800 members in collective action on the issues that both strengthen our profession and threaten the people we serve.

While there is great joy and real value in coming together at events like our upcoming Boardwalk Seminar® 2026, taking place April 29 to May 1 in Atlantic City, or at our 2026 Awards Dinner on February 26, it is our ability to rally around the challenges facing our profession and our clients that remains the core of NJAJ’s work and mission.

It is my firm belief that NJAJ’s greatest strength in protecting and preserving the rule of law is our collective willingness to stand up — and show up — as a consistent, unified voice for our clients' fundamental rights.

And we are now in a moment that demands engagement from every NJAJ member.

Over the past several months, Uber has intensified its national campaign to reduce insurance protections for injured passengers, drivers, and families. New Jersey is now a primary target.

We must respond, together and immediately.

To prepare our membership, NJAJ is launching a series of Legislative Update Meetings virtually and in person at law firms across the state, the first of which is scheduled to take place on Zoom at 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2026.  Additional information on these meetings, as well as a link to register, can be found here

While the Uber legislation threat demands immediate attention, it is far from the only issue on the horizon. The new legislative session is already taking shape:

  • E‑Bike Safety: A bill strongly supported by NJAJ has been signed into law, improving safety and accountability for riders and pedestrians.
  • Workers’ Compensation Room and Board: NJAJ continues to advocate for fair treatment of injured workers.
  • Nursing Home Accountability: We expect renewed debate on protections for some of our state’s most vulnerable residents.
  • Third‑Party Litigation Funding: This issue is gaining traction and will require close monitoring.

Across all of these issues, the through‑line remains the same: NJAJ trial lawyers are fundamentally fighting against anything that weakens an injured person’s ability to access justice. That is our mission, and it guides every step we take.

Nominations and Leadership

This year also marks the election of NJAJ’s 2026–2027 officers. The Nominating Committee will be appointed by January 30, and nominations are now open to all members in good standing. Our leadership is strongest when members step forward. If you've ever considered running, or know someone who should, now is the time. The self-nomination form is available here, and nominations may also be submitted by email at info@nj-justice.org. All submissions are due by February 27, 2026.

Boardwalk Seminar® 2026

As noted earlier, Boardwalk Seminar® 2026 will take place from April 29 to May 1 at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, and registration is now open.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our clients, our profession, and the principles that define justice in New Jersey. The challenges before us are significant, but so is the strength of this association. When NJAJ members stand together — informed, engaged, and united — we are a force that cannot be ignored.

Together, we will meet the year ahead with clarity, unity, and purpose.
