As the year winds down, NJAJ remains dedicated to helping its members stay fully compliant with New Jersey’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.

New Jersey attorneys must complete 24 CLE credits every two years. Within those 24 credits, the New Jersey Supreme Court mandates:

• 5 credits in Ethics/Professionalism, including

• 2 credits specifically focused on Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias (DE&I).

In addition, attorneys are required to earn at least 12 credits through live instruction, which includes both in-person seminars and interactive webcasts.

New Jersey attorneys are assigned to compliance groups based on their birth month:

• .Group 1 (Jan. 1 – June 30 birthdays): Completes credits by the end-of-year in odd years but reports for certification in even-numbered years. 

• Group 2 (July 1 – Dec. 31 birthdays): Completes credits by the end-of-year in even years, but reports for certification in odd-numbered years
