Q: What year did you join NJAJ?
A: 2008
Q: Why did you join NJAJ?
A: My partners at Javerbaum Wurgaft highly encouraged me to join NJAJ because of the unique opportunity to network and engage with the plaintiffs' bar. The educational element, the community and the cohesion of coming together and helping each other, knowing that we are all working on behalf of victims' rights and fighting corporate interests makes NJAJ a particularly special organization.
Q: Why did you become involved in the WTLC?
A: I have always self-identified as a feminist. I believe at my core in the need for women to come together, commit to one another and help each other to achieve a greater balance of power. The WTLC brings together a stellar group of professional women who lead in our industry. Amplifying female voices is one of the unique benefits the WTLC offers.
Q: What is your favorite vacation spot?
A: I LOVE being in nature. I am from Maine originally and also lived for a number of years in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. About a decade ago, I quit Javerbaum Wurgaft to travel the world for three and a half months. I spent five weeks traveling through New Zealand in a campervan. We also went to China for a month, Fiji for two and a half weeks and ended up in San Francisco. It was my favorite vacation because we literally left our phones at home. My only contact with friends and family was when we'd stop at an internet cafe. The landscapes of New Zealand were breathtaking. Every turn in the road revealed another view that blew my mind. Having said that, my favorite vacation spot is Maine. I love my home state. My hometown, Eastport, is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. My family owns the Eastern-most house in the U.S. and we could see Canada from our windows. I could just sit and look at the view from my backyard for days.
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: My favorite book is The Little Price by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. I don't think any book better explains the responsibility of love in both romantic and platonic relationships. I consider it a guide to better understanding people and their connections. It is such a simple story but profound.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: My favorite quote is from The Little Prince: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
