Chinsu Shajan is an attorney and member of Stark & Stark’s Accident and Personal Injury Group. She concentrates her practice on serious personal injuries, motorcycle injuries, negligent security claims, wrongful death, and product liability matters. Chinsu appears frequently in federal, state, and appellate courts in New Jersey and New York. Chinsu also has extensive experience litigating many complex product liability cases throughout the country.

Chinsu is a Co-Chair of the New Jersey Association for Justice’s Women Trial Lawyer Caucus, sits on Executive Committee and Board of Governors for the American Association of Justice. Executive Committee Member for the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association, Co-Chair of Women Lawyer Committee of the Mercer County Bar Association, and an active member of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey.

Within the community, Chinsu serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for NonProfitConnect. NonProfitConnect offers educational programs, courses, and resources for board members and Executive Directors to strengthen leadership skills, work together effectively, and enhance board governance to advance their programs and organizations. She is also the Co-Chair of Stark & Stark’s Mentor & Mentee Program and Associates Committee and serves as the Secretary for the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee.

Prior to joining Stark & Stark, Chinsu received her law degree from Rutgers Law School in Newark and served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Thomas W. Sumners, Jr., J.A.D., of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division.

A. I became a member of NJAJ in 2019

Q. Why did you join NJAJ?
A. I joined NJAJ because it allowed me to become part of a dynamic community of trial lawyers dedicated to protecting individuals' rights and ensuring access to justice. The organization's focus on continuous learning, mentorship, and leadership development has been invaluable to my growth as an attorney.

Q. Why did you become involved in the WTLC?
A. I became involved with the WTLC because I am passionate about supporting and amplifying the voices of women in the legal profession. The WTLC provides a vital platform for women trial lawyers to connect, share experiences, and advocate for issues uniquely affecting women in the field. My involvement with WTLC is driven by a desire to help create an inclusive and supportive environment where women can thrive, lead, and make a meaningful impact in our profession.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional legal character?
A. Jessica Pearson from Suits! Jessica is the epitome of leadership, intelligence, and poise. As the managing partner of Pearson Specter, she commands respect in the male-dominated world with her sharp legal acumen and unshakeable confidence. Jessica’s ability to make tough decisions, mentor others, and maintain her integrity while navigating complex office politics makes her a role model for aspiring attorneys.

Q. What do you like to do in your free time?
A. I love spending quality time with my family and have a strong case of the travel bug and love exploring new places. There's something incredibly fulfilling about seeing different parts of the world, learning about different cultures, and making unforgettable memories along the way.
