NJAJ members seeking to have the association enter cases as amicus curiae can make their requests online through the NJAJ website.
Instead of having to contact the Amicus Curiae Committee Co-Chairs in writing by mail or fax, attorneys can fill out the online form, attach important files and submit their request and documents electronically.
The online amicus request form requires attorneys to list the parties in the case, the facts of the case, the legal issues being raised, and other information.
Requests will be submitted to the Amicus Curiae Committee Co-Chairs for review. The final decision on whether to enter a case is made by the NJAJ Board of Governors or the Executive Committee.
Through its Amicus Curiae Committee, NJAJ strives to maintain a high profile in the New Jersey Appellate Division and Supreme Court by promoting, through advocacy, the rights of individuals and the goals of the membership. Briefs and oral argument before the Appellate Division and the New Jersey Supreme Court are done by volunteer NJAJ Amicus Advocates. If you would like to help with our amicus efforts, please send an email to info@nj-justice.org.
The Amicus Curiae Committee promptly reviews requests from NJAJ members or others seeking assistance, to determine the appropriateness for an NJAJ role and petitions the Court for participation on those cases the Association agrees to participate in. The committee identifies a member to write the brief noting that very short timelines are often necessary.
